Well it was high-time it got done…. did some blog-cleanin’ here. Everything was just getting all jumbled up and looking all scattered-like. So now everything has been reorganized and put into its own appropriate blog-page. So if you’re looking for something in particular just click on any of the blog tabs above.
One thing that just chaps my spurs is for these so-called professional performers to get up and desecrate our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, and looking like they are trying out for “American Idol” or something!!
It’s the national anthem… and it should be sung with reverence and with respect. With that rant said, I love the way this group of gals sings it!!
One thing’s for sure… Texans are proud people! There are so many reasons why that’s so and it would take forever and a day to tell ya all the reasons why! Here’s a snazzy video I found recently on YouTube that does a fairly good job of gettin’ ya started:
Bill Engvall is right up there on my list of favorite comedians! Here he’s talking about the pre-historic Dorkfish found in California … but he causes you to wonder just what the heck a corndog is doing underneath the ocean!!
Can’t wait for summertime to roll around!! I love all the various creatures that come out to play! But one in particular has visited us several times… hope to see him again this year!!
Here are the lyrics to this song that’s fast becoming a classic…
[Verse 1]
Bobby taught us by example not to look down a roman candle when you light it. He lost his right eye but you know, he’s a better lookin’ guy without it.
[Verse 2]
And that jumbo bottle rocket Don lit in his pocket would have flew if it weren’t for his belt loop. We were listenin’ to Elvis when it shattered his pelvis but it was cool ’cause it blew right at the end of ‘Don’t Be Cruel’.
[Chorus 1]
This song is for all our pyrotechnical heroes. What they lacked in discretion they made up in combustion. The ones who lit the fuse and wound up dead, injured or lame, we salute you, the fallen founding fathers of the Freelance Fireworks Hall of Fame.
[Verse 3]
But the best has got to be Bill’s ingenuity with a man-sized rocket, duct-tape and a lawn chair. Well he did good I reckon, he rode a full eight seconds without spilling one drop of his beer.
[Chorus 2]
This song is for all our pyrotechnical heroes. Risking mutilation all for detonation. They ignited the firestorm now we fan the flame. And we salute you, the fallen founding fathers of the Freelance Fireworks Hall of Fame.
Does it seem like time these days just flies by in a blur and ya don’t know whether you’re coming or going?! I used to laugh when the ‘old timers’ used to start off a conversation with … “back in the day…”
Well… I’m now finding myself starting off a bunch of my conversations that way!!! Heck I remember a time of being able to go to sleep at night with the doors open and just having the screen doors locked. I remember first getting cable and having to get up and walk over to the cable box and having to move the switch between channels and turn a dial to get the signal just right! Oh I could just go on and on….
This all comes up cause a long while back my youngest daughter was wanting to heat up some quiche to snack on. She was reading the heating directions and I overhear her say, “That long?” So I asked what the deal was and she was commenting on how long it would take to heat up the quiche… 1 minute and 30 seconds.
So a “back in the day” speech took off and I told her that I remember a time when TV dinners took 25 to sometimes 45 minutes just to cook!!! I’m surprised her teeth didn’t break when that jaw of hers hit the floor from shock!! (hahaha)
Most folks will be following the tradition of burning blue candles throughout the holidays. The blue candle symbolizes the soldier that will not be able to come home during the holidays to spend it with their loved ones.
Folks I can tell you from experience this is one of the hardest times a soldier must endure. I hated the holidays when I was deployed overseas. I hated looking at my 1 foot tall Christmas tree with pics of my family hanging as ornaments. I hated watching men and women talking to their spouses, children and family on the phone and trying to sound cheerful only to watch them break down weeping when they hung up. I wanted to be home…. but, we had a duty to fulfill.
So for those that have served, I’m sure you can relate. For those that are serving, you have those that have been there and those that are applauding your service!!
No matter how you look at it…. illegal immigration is fast becoming an epidemic of proportions that folks really don’t have a grasp of how big it really is.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m posting this to show how the government is fueling this explosion of illegal immigration by making it easy for them all the while taxing U.S. citizens to no end in order to combat this onslaught. Talk about burning the candle at both ends and U.S. citizens are right in the middle of that huge fire!
In this video, pay close attention to the lyrics as Ray Stevens has nailed this issue!
If you’re gonna come here and live off our lands and within our economies, by golly do it the legal way!!!
It’s the call of the SALT!!! I don’t know what it is but come March-time and all the way through into December… that saltwater is calling me!!
One of my most favorite methods to fish is using a popping cork and live shrimp. Yeah fresh-dead shrimp can work well but I just prefer me the action of that live bugger down there twitching and making those salties chomp down on them and then come up into the boat with me for a ride to the grill!!
One key factor that you need to keep in mind is how to choose healthy shrimp. When you go to get your shrimp, get them from a bait shop that you are familiar with and that provides good, healthy bait. This will take some time but ask around and GET THERE EARLY! Be sure that the shrimp are lively and scooting about … don’t get those that don’t look healthy or are slowly swimming on their sides or upside down and not moving!!!
But there’s been some research being done to find ways in which to produce more healthy, stronger, longer living shrimp for those serious saltwater anglers. Researchers are finding that a serious workout routine produces great benefits for the shrimp just like it does for humans! That’s right…. exercise. From the moment the shrimp is born it is being thrust into a program that has one plan in mind … make it bigger, healthier and stronger. Now researchers are not informing folks at this time of all their research due to secrecy clauses but a video of some of their research has surfaced and it’s only right that I share this with you….
The following video may cause an unending desire to go saltwater fishing. If it does, don’t blame me and just head to the coast and fulfill that “Assault the Salt” urge!
Every now and then one comes across something that is truly, insanely, disturbingly….. funny. This video on the Redneck Camping Guide fits that bill to a “T”!!
