Lip Smackin’ Sauce

January 24, 2010
  • 1/3 cup diced red onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely diced garlic
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup white grape juice
  • 1/2 cup Jack Daniel’s black label bourbon
  • 1/2 teaspoon tabasco sauce
Place ingredients in a sauce pan in the order listed; mix and stir after each ingredient.  Place on medium heat and stir until mixture reaches the boiling stage. Turn temperature down to low until the mixture is simmering slowly. Cook the sauce for 35-45 minutes and remove from heat. Mixture will have reduced in volume about a 1/4 to 1/3.
This is best made a day or two ahead as this will leave time for the sauce to thicken and for the flavors to really meld together.  This is the one sauce that folks always asked for when we’re hosting dinners at our home. I’m sure it will become a favorite of yours too!
NOTE:  This list of ingredients is not all-inclusive.  There are some items I have purposefully left out!!! But this will get you an awesome sauce none-the-less!  Be sure to make extra because folks will just start pouring this stuff over everything!!
